Plugged into Mindfulness in Schools

Stress is a natural part of life. Healthy stress can help to motivate us to work hard and accomplish goals. These days, however, many students are weighed down by unhealthy amounts of toxic stress. The expectations placed upon them is more than they have the capacity to cope with, especially considering that they receive little to no training in stress management throughout their education. Toxic stress decreases students' attention, impairs emotional regulation, disturbs sleep and more.

Educators are also plagued by toxic stress. Anxiety, decreased productivity, frustration, and burnout are becoming common symptoms that drive teachers to leave the profession.

Grounded in science and research, Plugged into Mindfulness is a comprehensive 8 session program training educators in mindfulness and breathing techniques, and demonstrating how educators can offer techniques to children, K through 12th grade.  Additional sessions ensure quality control implementation of the program throughout the district and community.

You'll be trained face-to-face (or online) with Joni, or another mindfulness expert, given homework, readings, and the ability to address questions or concerns around the practices. Healthy Body Peaceful Soul, LLC is approved by the state of Pennsylvania as an Act 48 continuing education provider, and Plugged Into Mindfulness programming can include credits for teachers. Social work credits through NASW can be available also. Click here to read our Education Possibilities Guide. Click here to access our evaluative reports on the program. Plugged into Mindfulness for
Therapists & Social Workers

70% of adults in the United States have experienced some kind of traumatic event in their lives. While some recover from trauma in time with little daily impact, some go on to experience PTSD, drug or alcohol addiction, depression, or anxiety. A growing body of research demonstrates that mindfulness practices can be helpful to those who have experienced trauma, those with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and addiction. Plus mindfulness is essential for treatment providers to practice themselves, to help minimize burnout and secondary trauma.

Grounded in science and research, Plugged into Mindfulness is a 10 week comprehensive program that starts training in mindfulness and breathing techniques. Next, participants learn specific techniques to offer clients.

Classes offered in-person or online. You'll be trained face-to-face with Joni, or another mindfulness expert, given homework, readings, and the ability to address questions or concerns around the practices. Plugged into Mindfulness for
First Responders

First responders are those police, firefighters, and EMS professionals who respond to 911 calls and treat and transport people in crisis situations. They encounter a wide variety of people in life-threatening situations, from domestic violence, to robbery, to car accidents, to other incidents of trauma and mass casualty. In 2020, first responders are experiencing even more stress, anxiety and fear working during the COVID-19 pandemic, amidst civil disturbances, other emergencies, disasters, and even layoffs as well. Due to the large amounts of stress, anxiety and depression among their day-to-day experiences, First responders are more susceptible to burnout, anxiety, depression, and drug use, according to (https://www.rehabspot.com/drugs/who-addiction-affects/first-responders/). Mindfulness techniques can not only help these professionals reduce stress, regulate emotion, and improve overall health and well-being, but can help them stay more cool, calm and collected when doing their job. This 10 week program also addresses the effects of PTSD, which often goes undiagnosed in this population. Classes are offered in-person or online, and commitment to the whole program is required. Continuing education credits are available through the PA Dept. of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services. Click here for the detailed brochure.

Plugged into Mindfulness for Business Leaders

The goals of the 8 week Plugged Into Mindfulness for Business Leaders is three-fold:

  1. To help you reduce personal stress level, improve memory, increase focus and improve relationships, through the use of mindfulness tools. Leaders are at a great risk for chronic stress and burnout. This negatively impacts mental and physical health and can have negative consequences for the work environment. Research shows that mindfulness training offers leaders stress management tools and facilitates an overall increase in self-care, increasing personal well-being, as well as their efficacy in a leadership role.

  2. To help you increase the psychological capital in your organization by becoming a more mindful leader. Mindfulness practice is associated with qualities that are critical to effective leading, such as attention, empathy, and emotion regulation. This can dramatically increase the psychological capital in an organization: the qualities and experience of hope, optimism, self-efficacy, and resilience.

  3. To develop a foundation for offering mindfulness to your organization. Self-care and the embodiment of mindfulness practices are essential before offering and suggesting the practices to others. This training will offer methods of implementing and maintaining mindfulness programs in your organization
